The Challenge

Bring the Game of Intoxication to life, taking it from the initial concept images to a fully realized board game. Targeted at young adults, this design required some sophistication to end up at a final packaged product that would appeal to drinkers and board game lovers everywhere.

The Game Board

The client provided images of his home-made board, which I then used to recreate it. I wanted to keep the colorful palette he had envisioned, but we decided to redo the board dimensions to a perfect square and replace the rules in the center with a logo and locations for the cards. The rules could be added back in the form of a rule book/card later on.

The Cards

For the cards, I wanted to play on the “beer” theme and create a logo you might see at a local brewery. I chose to incorporate wheat shocks, a keg icon, a tap icon, and a gold/black/white color scheme to tie into the brewer theme.

The Packaging

With the packaging, I wanted the outside of the box to be very simple. I decided to feature just the logo so it could grab attention and have a modern, adult game aesthetic. For the inside, I wanted the liner insert to stand out since everything else was minimalistic, so I created a pattern using some of the icon elements I had made during the logo process.
